GREEN BAY, Wis. Jalen Ramsey Jersey . - Humble and hard-working. Unassuming and respected. Raised on a farm in Kansas, Jordy Nelson has a down-to-earth personality that fits perfectly in blue-collar Green Bay.Heres the catch: Hes a record-setting receiver, too.An 86-yard output on six receptions in last weeks win against Detroit allowed Nelson to set the Packers single-season mark with 1,519 yards receiving. All of this is mind-boggling to be honest with you — winning the Super Bowl, being part of this organization, Nelson said after the 30-20 victory over the Lions. Its fun. You dont take it for granted because one of these days, its going to be over. But retirement is a long way off. For now, hes half of one of the most productive receiving duos in the league, joining Randall Cobb as quarterback Aaron Rodgers two top targets. There is much work to be done to get ready for the Packers playoff game on Jan. 11 at Lambeau Field. And if there is anyone on the team who embraces the work and preparation needed to become one of the top players in the league, its Nelson. As a coach, its what youre looking for. Hes the example. Hes what a Green Bay Packer (is), what you want every young guy to come in and take a look at, coach Mike McCarthy said. Just the way he goes about his business, the way he approaches work every single day. Hes the same person every day.For Nelson, training camp began with the signing of a four-year contract extension. He entered the season as Green Bays clear No. 1 option at receiver, following the departures in recent years of veterans Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and James Jones, along with Jermichael Finley at tight end.By all accounts, his workmanlike persona hasnt changed in seven years in the league. Not that Nelson is one to draw attention to himself, but the receivers production can sometimes get lost in the attention paid to Rodgers stellar play. After years of working together — perfecting timing, routes and other nuances of the game — Rodgers-to-Nelson has turned into a lethal combination for opposing defences. Plays can be tweaked on the fly just by simple glances or gestures.I wouldnt trade him for anybody in the league, Rodgers said. High praise from someone known as a stickler for preparation. This season, Cobb has been as nearly as indispensable as Nelson.According to the Packers, Nelson and Cobb became the first duo in NFL history with 90 catches, 1,200 yards and 12 or more touchdowns in the same season. They are the third set of teammates in the same season with at least 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns. The other pairs are Minnesotas Cris Carter and Randy Moss in 1999, and Denvers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker in 2013.Nelson is more of the deep threat, while Cobb is the elusive and shifty target who can keep drives going on third downs and in the red zone.Cobb, whose contract is up after this season, appears poised to join Nelson for a big deal — presumably with the Packers. Safety Morgan Burnett, drafted a year ahead of Cobb in 2010, said the receiver seemed ready for the NFL from his first day at Lambeau.Randalls the type of guy, ever since he came in as a rookie, it seemed like there was never was a stage too big for him. When he came in, you thought he was a five-year vet, Burnett said. Same as Jordy, he carries himself like a pro, studies the game.Nelson and Cobb have maintained consistent production through the season in spite of the attention paid by secondaries to Rodgers overwhelmingly top options. Rodgers has said the Packers have adjusted in part by lining up the receivers in different spots. For instance, Cobb lately has seen more snaps lining up near Rodgers, taking handoffs and also running routes out of the backfield. Nelson can do damage in the slot or on the outside. It was fun to get Jordy the record. Randall made some great plays for us, Rodgers said after the Lions game, and we finished that thing off the right way.__Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Yannick Ngakoue Youth Jersey . That assertion is getting harder and harder to make, especially given the way 23-year-old Danilo Gallinari has been playing this season. The team of Lars Nelson, Daniel Richardsson, Johan Olsson, and anchor Marcus Hellner cruised to victory in the 4x10 km event, winning in a time of one hour, 28 minutes, and 42. Geovany Soto had an RBI for the Cubs. Carlos Silva gave up one run on three hits over six innings to pick up the win. Josh Willingham drove in the lone run for the Nationals, who had just four hits.PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks dismal season got worse Saturday with the news that All-Star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has a fractured left hand. Goldschmidt, runner-up in National League MVP voting last season, was hurt when he was hit above his ring finger by a pitch from Ernesto Frieri in the ninth inning of Friday nights 9-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Diamondbacks have placed Goldschmidt on the 15-day disabled list and there was no word before Saturdays game on how long he is expected to be sidelined. "I was holding out hope. Wasnt trying to think about it being broken," said Goldschmidt, who stayed in the game after being hit and advanced to second base before the final out was made. Goldschmidt was to be examined further on Saturday after getting X-rays late Friday. He broke a bone in his left hand, the hamate, while in college and had it removed, but had not had any other injuries of that sort since. "I was trying to make a fist, which I can do," said Goldschmidt, who had no protective cast, splint or bandage over his hand as of Saturday afternoon. "After the game there was some swelling. I knew there was something. I was just hoping just a bad bruise or something like that. But unfortunately it wasnt." Despite his teams overall woes, Goldschmidt is among the NL leaders in several hitting categories. He leads the league in doubles and extra-base hits, is tied for first in runs scored, is second in total bases and is third in RBIs and walks. Voted a starter by fans in this years All-Star game, Goldschmdt is batting .300 with 19 home runs. He has 75 runs scored, 220 total bases, 39 doubles, a triple, 64 walks and nine stolen bases. A Gold Glove winner last year, Goldschmidt has seven errors in 109 games. Arizona recalled outfielder Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Reno to take Goldschmidts roster spot. Goldschmidt was out of the lineup for only the second time this season Friday night but entered in a double-switch in the ninth inning of a gamme that was tied 4-4. The incident immediately drew the wrath of several Diamondbacks players, and there was a showdown between the teams after the game in front of the Arizona dugout. No one did anything but talk, though. While catcher Miguel Montero called the situation "a little shady," Goldschmidt said after the game he didnt think he was hit purposely and reiterated that Saturday. "Its part of the game. I mean, who knows? People get hit, its just part of it," Goldschmidt said. "So once I figure out the rehab (plan), just go with that and obviously youd like to play, but cant change what happened." Frieri apologized several times for what happened, saying he didnt mean to hit Goldschmidt. "I feel bad. Im sorry," Frieri said. "I know that hes a really valuable player for the Diamondbacks. I just try to make my pitches and in this game, if you dont make your pitches inside, youre going to get hit. "It wasnt on purpose. I dont have anything against him. I was just trying to get him out," Frieri added. Goldschmidt isnt the only Diamondback in recent history to have to deal with a broken bone from being hit with a pitch. Second baseman Aaron Hill missed 10 weeks last season after being hit on his left hand, and outfielder A.J. Pollock was hit on the right hand on May 31 and is only playing in rehab games. "It hurts. Hes one of the best players on our team for sure. One of the best players in the league," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "There are risks to playing the game. Were very familiar with guys getting hit in the hand." It could mean a new approach when dealing with inside pitches. "Maybe something to talk about, just moving forward about how to turn into the pitch a little better," Gibson added.
